Visa and Residence Formalities

U citizens do not need a visa to enter Italy. In general, non-EU citizens need to apply for a visa at the Italian Consular Authority in their country of origin before arriving in Italy. However, depending on cooperation agreements between your country of origin and Italy, you may not need a visa.

For additional information regarding visas. EU citizens have the right of residence in Italy for a period of up to 90 days. However, EU citizens are advised to go to the police station to “declare their presence” (dichiarazione di presenza).
